Thinking about booking an appointment at IAAM? Here are answers to some of the questions clients often have about the salon, appointments, colour, balayage, hair extensions and treatments.
About IAAM
What is IAAM Hair Salon?
IAAM is a boutique home hair salon in Bournemouth founded by Donna Douch in 2008.
Every appointment is with Donna, giving you her complete attention throughout your visit in a calm, private salon setting.
Donna offers cutting, styling, hair colour, balayage, highlights, hair extensions and hair treatments, with every appointment tailored to your hair and what you would like to achieve.

The salon is based at Donna's home and appointments are booked in advance.
Booking and appointments
How do I book an appointment at IAAM?
Appointments can be booked online through the IAAM booking system.
If you know which service you need, you can select your appointment and an available time online.
If you are planning a larger colour change, colour correction or hair extensions and are unsure what to book, a consultation may be the best place to start.
How can I contact IAAM?
IAAM does not use a public salon telephone number.
You can book appointments online or contact Donna at hello@iaam.co.uk if you have a question before booking.
Do I need a consultation before booking?
Not for every service.
For more significant colour changes, colour correction, hair extensions or where you are unsure which service is right for you, Donna may recommend a consultation first.
This gives you the opportunity to discuss your current hair, previous colour, condition, desired result and the best way to achieve it.
Do I need a skin allergy test before having my hair coloured?
If you are new to IAAM or have not had a colour service at IAAM within the last six months, a skin allergy test is required at least 48 hours before your colour appointment.
Please make sure this has been completed before arriving for your colour service.
Balayage, highlights and hair colour
What is the difference between balayage and highlights?
Both techniques can add lighter tones and dimension to your hair but the finished results can be quite different.
Traditional highlights are usually placed using foils and can create brightness from closer to the root through to the ends.
Balayage uses more personalised placement to create a softer transition between your natural hair and the lighter areas. It can be particularly effective for creating dimension and a more blended grow out.
Donna can recommend the technique that best suits your hair, desired result and the amount of maintenance you are comfortable with.
What is included in The Transformation?
The Transformation is IAAM's complete balayage package.
It includes:
Ombre or balayage
Toner
Olaplex treatment mixed with your colour
Cut and blow dry
It is designed for clients wanting the complete colour, tone, treatment, cut and finish in one appointment.
The Transformation is £205 for standard density hair from shoulder to mid back length. A separate option is available for thick or dense hair.
Do you offer highlights as a package?
Yes. The Full Highlights Package is designed for clients wanting maximum brightness across the full head.
It includes:
Full head highlights
Toner
Olaplex treatment
Cut and blow dry
The package is £185 for standard density hair up to mid back length. A thick hair equivalent is available where additional time and product are required.
What is colour correction?
Colour correction is for hair that needs more than a standard colour appointment.
This may include correcting unwanted tones, uneven colour, previous home colouring or moving from an existing colour towards a significantly different result.
Because every colour correction is different, Donna will assess your hair, its colour history and its condition before recommending what is realistically achievable.
Colour correction is individually quoted.
Why might my colour appointment need a toner?
A toner helps Donna refine the final shade after hair has been lightened.
It can be used to neutralise unwanted tones or create the particular blonde, beige, cool, warm or natural finish you are looking for.
Toner is included within some IAAM colour packages and can also be booked as an individual service where appropriate.
Hair treatments
What is Olaplex and why is it used?
Olaplex is a professional hair treatment designed to support the strength and condition of the hair.
It can be used as an individual treatment or as part of a colour service. Some IAAM packages include Olaplex so that hair condition is considered alongside the finished colour and style.
What is The Refresh?
The Refresh combines a cut and blow dry with an Olaplex treatment.
It is designed as a regular maintenance appointment for clients who want to look after their hair condition as well as maintaining their cut and style.
The Refresh is £82 and is priced for hair up to shoulder length.
Hair extensions
Does IAAM offer hair extensions?
Yes. Donna offers professionally fitted hair extensions for clients looking to add length, volume or thickness.
Available options include LA Weave, tape extensions and wefts.
The right method will depend on your natural hair, the result you want and how you would like to maintain your extensions.
Do I need a consultation for hair extensions?
A consultation is recommended so Donna can assess your natural hair and discuss the length, volume, colour match and extension method that will work best for you.
Hair extension prices vary depending on the method and the amount of hair required.
Prices and packages
Are the prices shown on the website fixed?
Most services have a clearly listed price but some depend on the length, thickness or density of your hair.
IAAM has separate options for a number of thick hair colour services because these appointments can require additional time and product.
Colour correction and some hair extension services may also require an individual quotation.
If you are unsure which service applies to your hair, please contact Donna before booking.
Can I swap services within a package?
No. IAAM packages have been created as complete appointments and the individual services within them cannot be exchanged for different services.
If a package does not quite match what you need, Donna can help you choose the most appropriate individual services instead.
